How people made do
To survive in the home front, people had to make do. Here is a list of ways they did so.
-Rationing. See rationing here.
-People grew thier own vegetables, using every avalable space. See Dig for Victory.
-Any unused metal-old pots and pans, damaged cultery, even fences were taken so they could be remade into weapons for the army and bomb shelters for families.
-Since clothes were rationed, people made clothes from old curtains, or sheets.
Since people were working all the time, there was little time for cooking. Ready-made meals became common.
-Any waste food was given to pigs, or other farm animals.
